And, just like that we are back! Welcome back readers. This week on our feature Friday we have Allyson, she is a Reiki Practitioner. Let's dive a little deeper and find out how she got started and how she got to where she is now.

What made you start your journey?
I started my personal journey because I was extremely unhappy inside. I felt lost & wasn't even sure who I was as person outside of my "titles" at the time. I.e. "General Manager" "Mom" etc. I really began reiki with the intention of only learning about myself on a soul level & hoping somewhere along the way I'd find myself and my passions again. Reiki ultimately made such a profound difference for me in all aspects of my life that I knew I had to share this healing modality with other people. For me, I've been fortune to find mentors and teachers who have helped guide me along my journey and continue to assist to this day. It has been a combination for things that have lead me to where I am now but I can honestly say Reiki opened up so many doorways for me that I didn't even know existed. It's been a blessing🙏
Has there been any struggles?
Gosh, there have been several struggles along the way you could say. However, when I opened up my business I told myself even if this "fails" it isn't a failure because I will learn something along the way. Life tends to not always go the way we plan it to or intend for it to go and I have learned that when something appears to be a struggle it is really just an opportunity for growth in some way shape or form. I try to view all my struggles as opportunities which helps keep me in a positive growing mindset.

What do you feel is a misconception about reiki?
Some people think that Reiki is a physical massage of some kind and it is not. I will use gentle touch but 0 pressure is applied.
How would you explain Reiki to someone who is new to the practice?
Reiki is working with our energetic systems (chakras, meridians, auras etc.) Which are deeply connected to our physical, mental and emotional bodies. Reiki energy is used to help bring more balance and harmony to our energetic body and by doing so our physical, mental, and emotional bodies also see improvements. It is gentle, loving, subtle and safe. Our energy and our vibration changes moment to moment, day-to-day and it is important to take time out of our hectic lives for ourselves. Doing this practice will help decrease depression and anxiety, decrease insomnia systems, helps remove energetic blockages within the chakra system, helps deepen our connection to self and ancestors and helps bring a sense of balance back into our lives.

What inspires you?
I feel like what doesn't inspire me? Seriously though, my biggest inspiration is that I full heartedly believe that there is a better way to live, as individuals and as a whole of humanity and I am determined to help pave the path for myself & shine light on to it for anyone else who wants to live from a place of love and compassion as opposed of a life filled with fear and hate.
Can you talk a little bit about your process?
-Being a Reiki Practitioner has become a way of life for me because the process begins far before I am in a room with a client. For energy to flow more freely through me, it is important that I am taking care of myself through a nutritious diet, staying hydrated, exercising, getting enough rest and allow time for fun in my life. Moments before meeting with the client I do a short meditation and any energetic hygiene practices that I feel are beneficial to keep the energy clean and clear. Once with the client I have them lay on their back fully dressed on my massage table. If the client wants to share with me anything going on or a focus point they are welcome to do so and if they have any questions they are able to ask them. If it's a first time to Reiki I will explain the process in more detail then. After I encourage the client to relax, I play calm music, bless the space and we begin. Each session looks and feels slightly different as what we may need from day to day will change. After the session I share what I sensed and picked up on and the client can also share with me if they have anything they'd like to. Then I have the client pull one tarot card and it is so often in perfect alignment with what we just went over during our session.

Anything else you would like to share with the readers?
I opened Come As You Are - Holistic Healing with the intention of always holding space in a loving, compassionate, non-judgemental way. Life is hard at times and having support/tools like Reiki can be very powerful. If you're someone who is pretty balanced coming in once a month or every couple months is great. If you're someone who is struggling to feel balanced consistently and are seeking that then I recommend coming once a week. Another amazing aspect of my business is the Women's Circles that I host monthly. Definitely find me on social media or visit my website to learn more about that. I also offer pet Reiki in studio and out of the studio (I travel to you) as well as virtual Reiki. Everyone deserves inner peace and happiness! 🫶
